MEET THE GRANTEES

Elionor Lara

“What makes me happy is being able to get on stage and share with the audience the special energy you only experience in concert. For a moment, musics and audience get both to feel something really special”.

Elionor Lara’s relationship with music started with the piano, but she always knew she wanted to sing. “I’ve been singing in choir since I was little. That’s where I learnt how to enjoy making music”. At seventeen she was accepted into Cor Jove as a soprano. “I felt that was my place, singing was my thing”, she says, “and I knew to get there I had to get into Conservatori del Liceu. Then I found about Ferrer-Salat scholarships and I decided to give it a shot. I remember going to audition and feeling like I’ve had never been in a room filled with so many talented singers. I was a little nervous but I was also intrigued. Getting into Liceu and meeting so many singers made me realize just how big the lyrical singing world can be. I cherish that memory”. Last summer, Elionor sang as a soloist with the Gran Teatro del Liceu Orchestra for the Bachcelona Festival”. Critics wrote about Lara’s “genuine musicality that will ensure a great professional future in music”. Lara’s been working on baroque music repertoire but she says that she doesn’t want to leave behind modern styles like opera. In fact, she remembers the La Cenerentola production she was in while she studied at Liceu: “for the first time I felt like I was really singing opera, an opportunity we don’t get often as students. At the Conservatoire I got to see what it was to get in character, work their music and grow with them, the kind of stuff you only learn with experience. Studying and Conservatorio del Liceu gave me access to a new musical world I’m dying to explore now that I’m a professional”.
